Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Lagos State Police Command, have, Thursday, nabbed two suspected burglars for allegedly breaking into shops in Ikorodu area of the state.
The suspects are: Toheeb Sanusi, 21; and Adewale Adeshina, 24, according to the police had successfully burgled several shops.
According to SARS, who acted on credible information from the public, they stormed the Ikorodu market around Beanson area where the suspects were arrested.
The operatives further accused the suspects of being behind series of cases of theft in the area.
Exhibits found on the suspects include, phones, wristwatches, some household equipment, one locally made revolver pistol and one cutlass.
The police divulged that some of the recovered items were stolen from some shops by the robbers some weeks ago.
Reacting to their arrest, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bala Elkana, said, “On June 12 this year, acting on credible information, operatives from Ikorodu Police Station supported by SARS operatives deployed by the Commissioner of Police arrested the suspects around Benson area Ikorodu.
“The suspects confessed that they were in the area to rob unsuspecting members of the public. Investigation is ongoing, the suspects will soon be charged to Court at the end of Investigation
“The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu has given Commanders of tactical units in Lagos State a clear instruction to deal decisively with armed hoodlums daring the collective will of the to rob in any part of the State during the lockdown” he said.
