After months of manhunt, residents of Satellite Town among others have celebrated the arrest of notorious leader of a criminal gang, Yusuf, on Saturday night in Abule-Osun area of the state after years of terrorising residents.
Yusuf, whose criminal activities were brought to a halt by a team of officers from Satellite Town Lagos led by its DPO, CSP Chike Oti, was said to be the trouble of the town.
He is said to have spearheaded several attacks bordering on killings, extortion, harassment and intimidation with special interest in trucks and tankers’ drivers in Abule-Ado, Abule-Osun, Alakija, VinNiger, some parts of Festac, Old Ojo Road Satellite Town, the expressway from Mile 2 to Trade Fair Complex among others.
He, however, met his waterloo when he led his criminal gang to launch fresh attacks on a warehouse, where the owner resisted and fought back.
According to reports, while several residents were injured, properties were destroyed in the crisis.
It was gathered that the Area Commander of Festac Police station, ACP Halilu Muawiya, swung into action and called Oti to personally lead a team to quench the rancour.
The immediately action of the Satellite officers and DPO led to the arrest of Yusuf.
They were also alleged to have been coordinating robbery attacks on motorists plying the expressway especially at night during gridlocks in the area.
The State Police Public Relations Officers, SP Bala Elkana, who confirmed the arrest of the gang leader, said they were compiling all Yusuf’s exploits to prepare to charge him to court.
