World number 1 ranked player Novak Djokovic is marching on at the US Open after he defeated the British number 2 ranked player at the ongoing US Open in New York. Kyle Edmund could not keep up with his very impressive 1st set form which saw him took advantage of all his serves and forcing Djokovic to an early drop ball situation, but Djokovic made good with all his serves in the 1st set and sending the set into a tie which Edmund took the initiative by winning.
Djokovic who was coming back from an impressive form and fresh from winning the Western and Southern Open last week and a 25-match unbeaten run came back into the 2nd set with more conviction as he dominated from there on taking the 2nd, 3rd and 4th sets in style winning 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 4-6 2-6.
Edmund was broken in the 4th game and Djokovic wasted no time in taking full advantage of his weakness to secure an impressive win which would now see him face Jan – Lennard Struff in the 3rd round match at the US Open.
In other match ups, Alexandre Zverev defeated Brandon Nakashmina 7-5,6-7(8-6) 6-3,6-1 and has earned a place in the 3rd round to face Adrian Mannarinno who defeated Jack Sock in the other pairing. 7th seed David Goffin also prevailed over South African Lloyd Harris in another second round match up and would now be facing Filip Krajinonic in the 3rd round action at the US Open.
