Athletes and officials of Team Lagos on Sunday arrived in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, ahead of their participation in the 6th National Youth Games which holds from October 10 to 20.
Team Lagos, which comprises 260 athletes 59 coaches and other officials, including medical personnel, association secretaries, education districts sports officials among others departed Lagos Sunday morning after receiving a pep talk from the Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission Oluwatoyin Gafaar in Bariga, venue of their closed camp.
The early arrival of Team Lagos is the Sports Commission’s plan, for athletes to acclimatise and settle in before the competitions begin.
Before departing for Ilorin, the Director-General urged the Coaches to motivate and encourage the athletes to perform well by winning more gold medals for the state.
“Let us put in our best to have a good outing in Ilorin.”
He however wished the contingent a successful outing in Ilorin.
Team Lagos placed second at the 5th National Youth Games behind Delta State in 2019.
