A gas station has in the wee hours of Thursday morning exploded at Candos Road, Baruwa, Ipaja area of Lagos.
According to the Director General of the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the explosion occurred around 6a.m.
Five bodies have so far been recovered.
The incident, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), an LPG gas tanker was in the process of discharging at the Best Roof Plant Station and the Station Generator was on and from where the explosion erupted.
The explosion threw the discharging tanker across the road.
Although five bodies have been recovered, search and recovery will be carried out after the emergency phase.
“The Best Roof Gas Plant Station is located in densely populated community,” the Zonal Coordinator for NEMA, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye revealed.
Several buildings have been destroyed.
