Fire outbreak again destroys property worth millions in Lagos

Another Fire outbreak has destroyed property worth millions at Olowu street in the ikeja area of Lagos state.

Lagos Today gathered that no one died or injured due to the inferno.

In a Statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, LASEMA, Nosa Okunbor said the fire was caused by the storage of highly flammable materials in a room of the razed storey building.

“In a just concluded operation, LASEMA has quelled yet another fire outbreak at 42, Olowu Street, off Awolowo Road, in Olowu axis of Lagos in Ikeja.

“In third round of fire outbreak of the day, LASEMA quelled another fire outbreak which cause has been attributed to storage of highly flammable materials in a room of the razed storey building where the Agency’s officials, LASEMA Fire Unit, officials of the Federal and Lagos State Fire Services, jointly combatted and curtailed the fire from spreading to surrounding buildings and properties.

“Though no deaths nor injuries were recorded in the incident which ravaged the affected storey building that serves as offices for various organizations situated within it, but, properties worth a fortune were destroyed by the inferno.

“After successfully extinguishing the fire through combined efforts of the Agency’s responders and its stakeholders, Post Disaster Assessment conducted by the Agency’s officials revealed that the fire started from a large storage room in the affected storey building where Auto paints (Tinner) were stored”He said.

Meanwhile, The Agency’s officials and men of Federal and Lagos State Fire Services are jointly combatting and curtailing the fire from spreading to building/properties nearby.
