The intelligence service in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reforms Task Force, Abdulrasheed Maina, in Niger Republic.
Top intelligence officer disclosed that the arrest, which was carried out on Monday evening, was facilitated by the an agreement between the two neighbouring countries.
According to the EFCC, Maina allegedly laundered a whooping N2 billion, part of which he used to acquire landed properties in Abuja.
Maina was said to have been granted bail by the trial court following his 12-count charge for money laundering by the commission.
Reports, however, has it that he jumped bail since September 29 this year against which Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court ordered his surety, Senator Ali Ndume to be remanded. He was afterwards granted bail.
