The traditional ruler of Iba Kingdom in Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Dr Sulaimon Ashade, Oniba Ekun, has urged Hausa traders in the area to embrace peace.
He said anybody caught fomenting trouble in the community would be handed over to law enforcement agencies.
The monarch made this remark during a peace meeting with the leaders of Hausa traders in Alaba Rago community on the crisis in the area.
Recall that properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in the market on Monday April 26.
Oba Adeshina said, “Anybody caught fomenting trouble in the community henceforth will be made to face the wrath of the law. Nobody is above the law.”
The monarch maintained that violence could be detrimental to the maintenance of security, growth and development of his domain.
He urged the Hausa sellers to shun selfish interests, especially those that concern making laws that govern the markets, adding that the leaders should come together to resolve their differences for peace to reign in Iba Kingdom.
Earlier, the Seriki of Alaba Rago market, Alhaji Umaru Sokoto, disclosed that the chaos arose when the leadership imposed on the market for six years began extorting the sellers, among other forms of oppression.
Sokoto commended the monarch for taking measures to resolve the community disputes.
