Lagos will hold a fashion show from November 24 to 28 to showcase Nigeria’s growing sports wear industry. According to organisers of the show, the five-day event, which will hold at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, will also showcase sports wears and kits as daily outfits that can be used for different occasions, apart from sporting activities.
According to the convener of the Sports Fashion Show, Lisa Inaku, the event, supported by Lagos State Sports Council and Nigeria Supporters Club, is geared towards celebrating the art and culture of clothing and also creating a sports tourism industry in Nigeria.
She stated that the event, which is the first in Africa, would attract local and foreign participation.
“The sports fashion show is all about promoting and creating awareness of the beauty of taking part in sports through the display of different designs of sports wears and accessories.
“These days, people wear Jerseys on jeans and also on locally made fabrics like Ankara… people wear canvas on them and they look good when used at different occasions.
“The fashion show will involve known, upcoming and unknown designers. The event will in its entirety encompass exhibition section, music and catwalk by models in sports wears,” she explained.
