Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been urged to intensify efforts in the registration and distribution of Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) so that many Nigerians will not be disenfranchised.
This advice was given by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State and a Senatorial candidate hopeful Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse while briefing journalists on effort made by his group, Reset Lagos PDP to ensure more voters are registered and those who have not gotten their PVC get it before the deadline of collecting it for 2023 general elections.
Pearse noted that, it is appalling that many people have applied for PVC but they were denied, while those who were given temporary voters cards were denied PVC after several visits to INEC office to get it.
“INEC’s continuous PVC application exercise is a sham, because while INEC encourages people to apply, it does not treat their application seriously,” Pearse said.
The PDP stalwart who cited an example of himself that in the last three years he has been trying to upgrade his temporary voters card to PVC.
