Following the federal government’s directive on interstate ban to curtain the spread of COVID-19, the Lagos state police has, Monday, arrested 179 violators of interstates non-essential travel ban and impounded 43 commercial vehicles.
The violators were arrested on Sunday June 28 and Monday June 29 in various interstate checkpoints and motor parks in the state.
Among those arrested are 43 commercial bus drivers conveying the arrested passengers to Abia, Abuja, and Kogi among others.
While 43 vehicles were impounded, the suspects were arraigned in Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court and were sentenced accordingly.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc, however warned commercial vehicle operators and motor parks against violating interstates movement restriction orders.
He also implored passengers against non-essential interstates travel.
