… Commends Donor, Hon. Idowu Obasa, for his contributions towards improving the health of Lagosians
A Lagos Philanthropist, Hon. Idowu Obasa has donated a multi million naira Lithotripsy Machine to the Urology Unit, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
One of the many dignitaries at the event was the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, who stated that Honorable Obasa had supported the hospital in the past; he mentioned the donation of a holding bay during the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic. He further appreciated the donor for his generosity and contributions towards improving the health of Lagosians.
Similarly, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo disclosed that the presentation of the machine has placed the hospital on a higher pedestal as LASUTH is the only public hospital in Nigeria to own the equipment.
Hon. Idowu Obasa, in his response narrated his experience on how he was treated many years ago in India with lithotripsy machine.
He regarded that experience as one of the strong reasons why he decided to get the machine for LASUTH. The donor also commended the healthcare workers in Lagos and Nigeria at large for their wonderful service deliveries.
Furthermore, the Head of Urology Unit, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, added that the machine will further enhance the capability of the unit to effectively carry out its surgeries with precision and accuracy.
Lastly, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo expressed the appreciation of members of Staff, Management and Board of the Institution to the donor while calling for similar donations from other well-meaning Nigerians.
Other dignitaries at the event included the chairman of LASUTH Board, Dr Richardson Ajayi and other Board Members, Members of Top Management Committee and some healthcare workers of this excellent and fast growing tertiary institution.
