The Lagos State Government has announced its decision to empower youths in all eight tertiary institutions within the city on entrepreneurship, employability and basic digital skills required for the job market.
Disclosing this, Tuesday, the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab said that the programme tagged “Jobs Initiative Lagos” was made to fill current gaps in the country’s education curricula.
He said that prospective candidates are required to register through the portal at: www.jobsinlagos.ng and complete the programme to be featured on job portals which several corporate organisations will be selecting fresh graduates for immediate employment.
He further revealed that the exercise would be run alongside another programme titled: ‘Digital Skills Initiative Lagos’, which also aims at empowering one million young people on digital skills, by 2023.
He said that the DSIL scheme would also include secondary school students, as they would have access to well-trained tutors.
“Our projects are being coordinated by LoftyInc Allied Partners Limited – an innovative development company that grows start-up teams, manages innovation programmes and facilitates impact projects in West Africa. The project is also in partnership with other tech companies, such as Microsoft, VMWare IT Academy and Wennovation Hub,” he added.
He said that students would be able to register for the DSIL progamme via the portal: www.dsilagos.ng
