Men of the Lagos State Fire Service, Tuesday, averted fire outbreak at an industrial area at 84/45 Kudirat Abiola Way in Oregun area of the state, where diesel is allegedly handled and stored.
The incident, which occurred around 11am, was said to have been ignited from an illicit diesel storage on the facility.
As revealed by post-disaster assessment, exhibits found at the premises of the incident are: 25 drums, three storage tankers, one articulated tanker, six buses used for the storage and transportation of diesel, and seven plastic containers.
According to the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the premises has been sealed and handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation.
While noting that the situation had been contained, the GM enjoined residents of the need to take responsibility with respect to lives and properties and report such instances to the authorities.
With emergency respondents like the Lagos State Fire Service (LRT), Anti-Vandal unit of the NNPC, and the NSCDC, who responded swiftly to the distress call, there was no record of casualties.
