…Hamilton gets pole position ahead of Valteri Bottas.
Thumbs up as Lewis Hamilton gets his 90th career pole and 7th pole position start at Budapest
Its the 3rd weekend of the Formular 1 season and it has since kicked off in Budapest Hungary yesterday 17th July, 2020 with practice sessions at the Hungaroring venue of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Day 2 today, is the day of the qualifying races, and at the end of the final qualifying race, Team Mercedes were dominant with Lewis Hamilton finishing the strongest and gets a pole position place on the starting grid, his 7th pole position in Budapest and 90th career pole position of his very illustrous career, ahead of his Mercedes team mate Valteri Bottas who had a fantastic race himself as he made brilliant push on his final lap, but an in form Lewis Hamilton was too much for him and he finished just a fraction of a second behind his title rival and team-mate.
Racing point/Mercedes drivers,the duo of Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez with a very good qualifying race today despite their off track criticism ,would be starting in 3rd and 4th place respectively on the the grid .
So its safe to say that all 4 cars to start on the front row on the grid are Mercedes powered engines which is a sign of the Mercedes dominance in recent years in F1. Both Mercedes drivers ended the race on medium tyres and they would be using same tyre types to start the main race tomorrow.
Mercedes engines are miles ahead of others.
Ferrari duo of Sebastine Vettel and Charles Leclerc had an impressive final qualifying race today and could only manage a 5th and 6th place starting position on the grid which is their best qualifying time since the start of the new F1 season , An improvement of some sort which can be bettered as the season progresses.
Red bull Max Vastappen could only manage a 7th place finish despite making a strong push since he was on pole position at last year’s race,his teammate Alex Albion got knocked out in Q2 and would be starting the race at the distant 13th position on the grid.
