The Nigeria Immigration Service, Seme Command in Badagry, Lagos State, has confirmed the abduction of Mrs Ladi Abel, spouse of one of its officers.
Mr Isaac Elijah, Public Relations Officer of the command, disclosed this development to journalists on Tuesday in Badagry.
According to Elijah, the 45-year-old victim was abducted on Monday while traveling along the Badagry-Mile 2 Expressway in Lagos. Mrs Abel had departed her residence in the Sawmill area of Badagry at approximately 7:00 a.m., heading toward the Trade Fair Complex on the same route to purchase goods when the incident occurred.
The spokesperson revealed that the abductors established contact with the victim’s husband, Chief Superintendent of Immigration (CSI) Abel Mada, using his wife’s mobile phone. The perpetrators initially demanded a ransom of seven million naira for her release.
However, in a subsequent communication early Tuesday morning at approximately 6:00 a.m., one of the kidnappers reportedly reduced the ransom demand to three million naira, threatening the victim’s safety if the amount was not paid.
Elijah confirmed that the matter has been formally reported to law enforcement authorities, including the Badagry Police Station and the Area K Zonal office of the Nigeria Police Force.
The command has appealed to members of the public with any information that could assist in securing Mrs Abel’s safe release to contact the family through the phone number: 0808 088 3848.
