The Lagos State Government has launched a complimentary Software Quality Assurance training programme targeting 600 students and recent graduates in a bid to equip young residents with critical digital competencies required in today’s evolving job market.
The programme is being coordinated by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Union Affairs (Tertiary Education), working in partnership with Korrekt Tech, a technology startup specializing in Quality-as-a-Service solutions.
Classes commenced this week across three locations simultaneously: Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) in Ikorodu, Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) in Otto/Ijanikin, and Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET) in Yaba.
The instructional sessions are scheduled to run every Saturday for three consecutive weeks, starting from October 11, with daily sessions running from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
According to Comrade Kappo Olawale Samuel, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Union Affairs (Tertiary Education), the training initiative represents a tangible implementation of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda, specifically its pillars addressing education, technology advancement, and youth development.
Kappo characterized the programme as extending beyond conventional training, positioning it instead as a gateway to technological proficiency. He emphasized that the initiative reflects Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to preparing young people for emerging opportunities in the digital economy.
“Technology is reshaping global industries at an unprecedented pace, and we are determined to ensure that Lagos youths remain competitive,” Kappo stated. “This programme specifically addresses the needs of students enrolled in tertiary institutions across Lagos, as well as recent graduates seeking to establish careers in the technology sector.”
The senior aide noted that registration for the programme, which concluded on September 30, attracted significant interest from eligible participants, surpassing initial projections. He acknowledged the contributions of Korrekt Tech and its team of instructors, led by Ridwan Abdulazeez, along with seasoned Quality Assurance specialists including Basirat Aboyeji, Adenike Olapetan, Ankoh Idoreyin, Godspower Osayomwanbor, Awodire Oluwatosin, Azeez Wasiu, Olusola Ajibade, Victor Nwauwa, Jumai Tijani, Oluwatomi Ojebuoboh, and Chukwuemeka Uche.
Kappo assured prospective participants who could not be accommodated in the current phase that additional capacity-building initiatives are being developed. He reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to providing Lagos youths with skills that meet international standards and market demands.
The Software Quality Assurance curriculum is designed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge of digital product testing methodologies, quality management systems, and foundational principles of technology service delivery—competencies that continue to gain prominence in the contemporary technology-driven marketplace.
