The Federal Government has on Saturday distributed relief materials to the affected persons of Badagry windstorm disaster over their losses which occurred on Sunday May 24 this year in Nara, Badagry area of the state in its efforts to commiserate with them.
Items distributed are: 208 bags of Rice (12.5kg); 208 bags of Beans (25kg); 208 bags of garri (12.5 kg); 22 kegs of vegetable Oil (20L); 20 bass of iodised salt (20kg); 35 cartons of tin-tomatoes; 20 cartons of seasoning cubes; 600 bundles roofing sheet; 600 bags of cement; 600 pieces of ceiling board; 70 bags of 3 inches nail; and 140 packets of zinc nail.

Speaking at the event, the Director General National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Muhammadu A. Muhammed, the FG is commiserating with the state government and Lagosians over the unfortunate incident of disaster that caused loss of enormous properties again.
“I bring with me also the message of commiseration from the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) to the affected persons over the losses, pains and trauma caused as a result of the unfortunate incident,” he adds.
He further appreciated the perseverance, patience and endurance of the affected families since the occurrence of the incident.
In his words, “Your Excellency sir, I wish to inform you that the Minister Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiyah Umar Farouq monitored the reports about the devastating windstorm that wreaked havoc on the properties of the person at this critical period in the history of the nation; and she commiserated with the affected people and the state government over the losses.”
On the instruction of the minister, the DG highlighted that an assessment by staff of NEMA was conducted to determine the extent of damages; this assessment includes enumeration of persons and Properties affected by the disaster.
Consequent upon which the president approved and directed door-to-door direct distribution of those items.
While thanking the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the enormous support given to staff of NEMA all the time.
Muhammadu charged beneficiaries, “I also use this opportunity to appeal to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of what has been provided today as a means of providing succour to you by President Muhammadu Buhari please.”
