The traditional celebration to mark the end of Ramadan’s month of fasting, Eid Al Fitr is one of the most important occasions of the year when Dubai’s diverse community comes together to explore and enjoy the wonderful sights and sounds the city is famous for.
Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), this year’s diverse line-up of Eid Al Fitr events has been carefully created to offer something for everyone throughout the four-day public holiday from 11 to 15 May. Each of the stores and venues participating in Dubai’s Eid celebrations follow all of the important health and safety rules and procedures, including social distancing and wearing masks at all times.
Retail offers
Shop for the perfect Eid Al Fitr gift with a super selection of retail offers at some of Dubai’s biggest and best malls and brand-name stores. From 12 to 15 May, customers at perfume specialists Ajmal’s outlets around the city can enjoy savings of 25 to 50 per cent, 50 per cent off at branches of Arabian Oud and 25 to 75 per cent off at V Perfumes. Jewellery lovers can shop for great deals at both Zen Diamond and Jawhara Jewellery stores with 50 per cent off selected items, while customers will receive AED100 off purchases of AED500 or more at branches of Seddiqi & Sons.
Homeware specialists Crate & Barrel will reduce prices on selected items by 40 per cent, Western Furniture will have a 25 to 75 per cent off deal while Bloomingdale’s Home will slash 30 per cent off selected items. Shoppers at fashion store Hollister will find Buy One, Get the Other Half Price deals from 13 to 15 May, Gant stores will host savings of 25 to 75 per cent off from 12 to 15 May. Launched exclusively for the Eid Al Fitr holidays, Shoemart stores in Dubai will present the brand’s debut capsule footwear collection. Created by acclaimed Saudi shoe designer Lulu Al Hassan, the Lulu Loves Celeste range features 12 feminine styles, with designs for every occasion.
Citywide activities
Families celebrating Eid Al Fitr at Dubai Dolphinarium can enjoy 25 per cent off admission to the Live Dolphin & Seal show by using the promo code EID25 from 12 to 15 May. Enjoy a fun-filled day in the snow at Ski Dubai before warming up with a delicious cup of hot chocolate this Eid. The venue’s special Eid Al Fitr pass, priced AED285 and available from 12 to 15 May, includes unlimited access to all Snow Park rides, a scenic ride on the chairlift and the choice of one experience: meet the penguins, a ski lesson, access to the slope for two hours or two rides on the sub-zero zipline. Wild Wadi waterpark’s Summer Pass for UAE residents offers super spills and thrills for Eid Al Fitr. Priced at just AED249 passes are valid until 31 August. Visitors to the Bounce trampoline park in Dubai Festival City Mall and Al Quoz during the Eid Al Fitr break can enjoy two hours of leaping and tumbling fun for just AED99 while Smash Room, in Al Qouz, has a great 10 per cent off deal for kids over Eid holidays. Residents and visitors can pick up tickets to see La Perle, the thrilling live acrobatics show at Al Habtoor City, from just AED169. The special Eid promotion runs until 15 May, with daily shows of La Perle throughout the long public holiday.
Hotel deals
Guests checking into the H Hotel can celebrate Eid Al Fitr with a relaxing city escape with family and friends. Book a minimum of four nights and enjoy 30 per cent off the best available room rates. Prices start from AED299 per night for stays between 12 to 16 May.
Palazzo Versace Dubai’s Eid getaway deal includes a stay in a Versace-designed room or suite, relaxing and rejuvenating spa treatments, daily breakfast and lunch for two plus 20 per cent off a wide range of culinary experiences from AED1,190++ per night from 11 to 15 May. JW Marriott Marquis in Business Bay is inviting residents and visitors to enjoy a luxurious Eid getaway for AED712++ per night. Available from 12 to 15 May, the offer includes complimentary breakfast and dinner, access to the outdoor terrace pool, the hotel fitness centre and the award-winning SARAY Spa. For AED716 per night, residents and visitors can book an Eid break at the Conrad Dubai Hotel and enjoy luxurious relaxation and five-star amenities. The BurJuman Arjaan by Rotana hotel in Bur Dubai has special Eid rates starting from AED355 per room per night. The offer includes a free upgrade to the next room category, subject to availability, breakfast for two, complimentary Magic Planet arcade cards with credit, one complimentary extra bed per room and children aged six and below eat for free during their stay.
Mall Activations
Dubai Festival City Mall’s Eid Al Fitr celebrations will allow families to meet characters from Paw Patrol plus be in with a chance of winning a 2020 model Dodge Charger car when they spend AED250 or more at any store from 6 to 15 May. Eid at The Pointe on the Palm Jumeirah will be a festival of fun and great fountain shows from 13 to 15 May. The outdoor dining and retail venue will host a special Disney Fountain show each night from 6pm onwards. From 12 to 14 May, La Mer will mark the Eid holiday with special menus and offers at its wide range of restaurants. Mall of the Emirates and Ripe Market will host the Dar Al Hai market during Eid, offering unique shopping opportunities for fashion accessories, home décor, games, Arabic sweets and more. There will also be a customization stand by THATconcept Shop, exhibition stalls and a vintage corner until 15 May. Mercato Mall and Town Centre Jumeirah will give shoppers an opportunity to win cash as part of a great Spend & Win prize draw during Eid Al Fitr. For every AED200 shoppers spend in either mall, they will be entered into a raffle to take home AED10,000. Families visiting City Centre Deira can win a new Eid outfit with Centrepoint’s great giveaway. Shoppers and diners who visit Food Central in the mall can take part in a fun quiz, with gift vouchers to pick out new outfits from Centrepoint up for grabs. The quiz will be held from around 6pm to 9pm each day of the Eid break.
Food Events and Promotions
There are more than 20 special F&B events and deals for families and friends to enjoy across the city during the Eid Al Fitr holidays. Foodies can indulge in a six-course tasting menu at Al Muntaha restaurant at the Burj Al Arab hotel, a special Peruvian set menu at COYA, or head to Hotel Cartagena at the JW Marriott Marquis to explore South American cuisine blended with Middle Eastern flavours and hints of local spices. Families can enjoy an Eid buffet at Imperium at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray while kids eat for free at Brasserie2.0 at Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa, The Palmery at Jumeirah Al Nasseem and Sloane’s restaurant at the Grosvenor House Dubai. The special Eid Folly Garden at Folly by Nick and Scott and the Le Weekend Brunch at Bistro Des Arts on Friday or Saturday are not to be missed, plus, each day of the Eid Al Fitr break Reform Social & Grill in The Lakes will host an alfresco ‘Big British BBQ’. Held on the outdoor terrace, the event features a menu full of meaty treats and is the perfect spot for families and friends.
Eidiyat Dubai
Shoppers headed to Dubai Shopping Mall Group venues over Eid Al Fitr will be in with the chance of winning a share of cash prizes up to AED200,000. Customers who spend AED200 at any of the participating malls up until May 15 will receive a raffle coupon.
During the three days of Eid, a total of 40 people will win AED5,000 each, with 20 raffle winners announced on day one and 10 winners on days two and three.
External Events
The Dubai Comedy Festival will return for a 10-day citywide takeover by world-class multilingual stand-up shows plus a comedy bazaar and much more. Held from 13 to 22 May, the Dubai Comedy Festival will take place at multiple locations across the city with more details to be announced shortly.
The Dubai Opera will host the first-ver hologram concert for the late celebrated Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez on 13 and 14 May. The 90-minute show will feature some of the singer’s most popular songs during an incredible evening of music.
Eid Experiences
Al Hai, a dynamic and illuminating experience that takes visitors on a journey through a series of light installations inspired by the layout and landmarks of Emirati neighbourhoods, will return for Eid Al Fitr. Located at Last Exit in Al Khawaneej from 13 to 15 May, visitors will be able to explore a stunning collection of light displays that create unique and intriguing boundaries representing domestic and architectural events. Open daily to families and art fans, Al Hai’s lights will be switched on at 7pm each evening.
