Less than 24 hours after the Lagos State Task Force Police was accused of arresting and killing a 20-year-old journalist with GboahTV, Pelumi Onifade, Nigerians have firmly condemned the continuous arrest and starvation of protesters arrested during the crisis in the state after a video leaked online.
This outrage is coming after a heartbreaking video went viral showing the pitiful state of the arrested youth.
According to reports, these youths (including females) – conveyed in two black trucks branded Lagos Task Force – were arrested during the #EndSARS protest against police brutality and its aftermath in the state.
As seen in the heart-ripping footage, some of the males are wearing only their inner pants (boxers), looking emaciated and starved. Some lay on the floor labouring for breath while a man dressed in khaki splashed water from a sachet water on them in an attempt to resuscitate them.
This has caused a widespread condemnation from Nigerians in Lagos and outside, asking if the lives of the youth matter at all.
