UNITED GOT BACK TO WINNING WAYS WITH A 1-3 WIN OVER EVERTON
GOODISON PARK
Manchester United bounced back to winning ways in the early kick off match in the EPL against Everton at the Goodison Park after back to back losses to Arsenal in the league and to Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions league mid-week group game. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was under immense pressure to get a positive result out of this one and he sure knows how to get his lads to grind out wins or turn up when they are under pressure to deliver.
Everton who started the season with an impressive form winning the first 5 matches have since struggled in recent matches and have seem to be hitting a downward spiral since the 2-2 draw at the Merseyside Derby with defeats in the last two matches to Southampton and Newcastle, Carlo Ancelotti’s side looked like they were up to it when they took a 19th minute lead through a smart finish from Bernard, but United reacted quickly by getting an equaliser from Bruno Fernandes header after a nice run into box to connect a Luke Shaw cross. He was at it again to double the lead for the Red Devils in the 32nd minute as he earned his brace through a Marcus Rashford assist.
Edinson Cavani announced his arrival in the Premier league getting the 3rd goal for United in the “Fergie time”, the 95th minute after combining well with Fernandes who had a brilliant stand out performance with a brace and setting up the last goal of the game
United move up to 13th place on the log with 10 points and Everton have now dropped to 6th place with 13 points.
BRILLIANT CHELSEA HITS 4 PASS SHEFFIELD
STAMFORD BRIDGE
Late evening kick-off in the Premier league saw the Blues of Chelsea in a free scoring dominant form as they hit four past Sheffield United at home at the Stamford Bridge to earn a very well deserved 3 point. Chelsea’s new left back arrival from Leicester City Ben Chilwell was in the mood as he was the first to meet in an advance position with a back-heel pass from Tammy Abraham and he did well to force a save from Aaron Ramsdale in goal for Sheffield as early as the 4th minute of the match.
Frank Lampard‘s men were slightly with the edge in the early exchanges but it was Sheffield’s striker David McGoldrick who was on target in the 9th minute for the visitors to put them ahead to set up the mood for a brilliant evening of football. Chelsea reacted to going behind quickly piling all the pressure, Tammy Abraham after a good work had a shot on goal in the 13th minute, but was saved and next was Hakim Ziyec with an effort but failed to hit the target, before Abraham in the 23rd minute would get the equaliser at the end of a square ball from Mateo Kovacic
Chelsea’s dominance continued and they went in search of more goals. Timo Weaner should have scored from a good chance but his effort bounced off the cross bar, but it was the defender Ben Chilwell who would score a nice tap in to put Chelsea ahead on the 34th minute, a lead Chelsea took into the half.
Chelsea dominated the second half and had some decent chances wasted to further add some goals but they didn’t take most of the chances until Thiago Silva announcing his arrival in the premier league with a headed goal as he connected a Ziyech cross to make it 3 for the home side in the 77th minute. Weaner would finally get in the goals on the day as he added the 4th for the Londoners in the 80th minute to put the icing on the cake to cap up a brilliant performance which sees them move up to 3rd on the log with 15 points. Sheffield are a shadow of their last season self as they stay bottom of the log in the relegation places in 20th with just a point from 8 games.
In other premier league fixtures, Crystal Palace got the job done in emphatic fashion, defeating Leeds United 4-1 at home at the Selhurst Park, goals from Scot Dan in the 12th minute, was doubled by Eberechi Eze in the 22nd minute before Patrick Bamford brought Leeds back into it 5 minutes later in the 27th minute making it 2-1, he had earlier put the ball at the back of the net but was disallowed by VAR.
Palace would however put the game beyond Leeds to seal all 3 points, an own goal from Helder Costa as he turned the ball into his own net and Jordan Ayew with the 77th minute 4th goal to cap up a brilliant afternoon for Roy Hodgson’s side.
Crystal place are now 8th in the log with 13points and Marcelo Bielsa‘s Leeds United stays 15th position with 10 points from 8 matches played.
Super Sunday in the Epl brought up some exciting match up with the top pick been the Manchester City hosting Liverpool at the Etihad stadium.
MANCHESTER CITY WERE HELD 1-1 AT HOME BY CHAMPIONS LIVERPOOL.
The two best teams in the EPL and the two best managers in the German Juergen Klopp and the Spaniard Pep Guardiola were head to head on Sunday evening, their first meeting of the season in a matchup which has never failed to live up to expectation with lots of excitement and intensity.
Both sides got to it quickly as they immediately had a go at each other from the blast of the whistle to set the tune for an exciting evening which is always expected when they square up at each other. Liverpool had a moment of pressure in the early exchanges and it paid off as Sadio Mane earned a clever penalty after he was clipped in the ankle in the penalty area by Kyle Walker and it was Mo Salah who stepped up and converted the resulting penalty kick and converted for the opening goal for the away side in the 13th minute.
Manchester City responded well with a sustained pressure on the Liverpool area as well and it didn’t take long before Jesus Navas who was just returning to the starting lineup for City after a period of injury lay out got a teasing pass from Kevin de bruyne in the area and he was the quickest to react in the Liverpool box as he turned beautifully and slotted the ball beyond Alison Baker in goal for an equaliser in the 31st minute.
Pep Guardiola’s City had a perfect opportunity to get in to the lead just before the end of the 1st half, but Man City Captain De bruyne missed from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute, Liverpool defender Joe Gomez who is having a good run in the center back position taking the place of the injured kad virgil van dijk handed the ball in the area before the penalty was awarded.

Liverpool are now 3rd on the log with 17 points from 8 games played and City moved up with the point gained are now 10th with 12points from 8 games played.
SHAMBOLIC ARSENAL LOSE 0-3 AT HOME AT THE EMIRATES TO A VERY IMPRESSIVE ASTON VILLA
EMIRATE STADIUM
Arsenal were back playing at home at the Emirates stadium in the league in the late kick off match against Aston Villa who were coming from back to back loses in the league to Southampton and Leeds United. Arsenal were on paper favourites to come out tops in this one after a brilliant previous weekend which saw them go away and defeat Manchester United at the Old Trafford, a feat they have not been able to achieve in the league since 2006, then followed up with a mid-week Europa league convincing 4-1 win over Norwegian side Molde at the Emirates Stadium.
Aston Villa came into the encounter with all guns-blazing and they seem like a team with a plan from the get-go as early as the 1st minute when they came forward with the ball and McGinn blasted a shot into Leno‘s goal, but the goal didn’t stand as Ross Barkley was adjudged to be in offside position covering Leno’s line of sight in the build up to the disallowed goal.
Arsenal were bossing the possession and were somewhat dictating the play with a couple of half chances at the Villa end but it was Villa who would get the 1st goal on the night after a very patient build up play down the right of Arsenal area involving Barkley and Matt Targett who rolled a teasing square ball across the face of Arsenal goal and was directed at goal by the on-rushing Bukayo Saka under the pressure from Trezeguet in the 25th minute to put Dean Smith‘s team 1 goal ahead.
Arsenal reacted with a moment of sustained pressure but they lacked the cutting edge as they could not really threaten the ”former gunner”, Emiliano Martinez in goal for Villa.
Mikel Areta‘s Arsenal made a couple of changes in the second half and they dominated the possessions and were creating some half chances here and there, but it was Villa who would double their lead through a Watkins‘ header from a Barkley cross in the 72nd minute and Watkins was on ground again to slot the ball into Leno’s net for the 3rd after a brilliant work by Jack Greylish.
Villa now 6th on the log with 15 points and Arsenal, 11th with 12 points.
In other early kick off games on Sunday, Leicester City played a 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home at King Power Stadium, Jamie Vardy‘s 15th minute penalty was all that separated the two teams at the end of the match and the Foxes now hold on to the top spot on the Premier league table with 18 points from 8 matches played, a point better than Tottenham Hotspurs in 2nd with 17th points from same number of games played, Spurs has earlier won 0-1 away from home when they squared up against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. Harry Kane joined the 150 premier league goals club with an 88th minute winner for Jose Mourinho‘s side in that one.
