A child and some adults in a commercial vehicle escaped death in a multiple accident which involved a Land Cruiser Prado, a Volkswagen bus popularly known as Danfo and a Corolla car.
The accident occurred around 11:00am in the Gbagada area of Lagos State.
The Prado Jeep with registration number Lagos- FK565HV, which was on top speed, hit the fully loaded Danfo marked Edo- BEN-383XE from behind, while the commercial bus collided with the Corolla with registration number Lagos-AAA-893GL.
It took the intervention of officials of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) and traffic and medical teams of Harvesters International Christians Centre (HICC), Gbagada, to mitigate the situation and control traffic in the area.
Three of the victims could not move their legs, while others were also injured, except the child.
The medical team of the HICC church administered first aid to the victims before they were taken to Gbagada General Hospital for treatment.
The officials and passers-by prevented hoodlums from taking advantage of the situation to steal from the victims.
The commercial bus, Danfo, bus driver, whose conductor was also injured in the incident, said: “The man just came and hit me from behind. I didn’t stop to pick a passenger because my vehicle is fully loaded. So, I don’t know what came over him. My conductor and many passengers were injured.”
But the driver of the Prado Jeep could not say if the collision was as a result of brake failure or not.
