The Lagos State Government has promised to look into the gully erosion and flooding at Garfa Street, in the Igando/Ikotun Local Council Development Area of the state.

This was after a story by Weekend PUNCH, which revealed the plights of residents of the street.

When PUNCH Metro reached out to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Drainage and Water Resources, Joe Igbokwe, he promised to send some officials to look into the matter.

He said, “What I will do is to send somebody to the place to go and verify and find out what is going on because we have to have a report. Meanwhile, I won’t want to say anything now until I see it.

“We have such things all over Lagos. Sometimes, it’s erosion from the sea for those of them living very close to the Atlantic Ocean or lagoon eating deep into people’s environment but we are dealing with it.”
