The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Agricultural Inputs Supply Authority (LAISA), has reiterated its commitment to providing all necessary support to farmers as part of efforts to boost food production in the State.
The Acting Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya disclosed this at the quarterly sensitisation programme organised for farmers in Ikorodu.
She stated that over the years, LAISA had been at the forefront of supplying farmers in the State with farm implements, agrochemicals and seedlings at affordable prices.
The acting commissioner emphasised that the forum underscored the commitment of the Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration to the wellbeing of farmers in Lagos State.
While noting that the government is determined to boost food production by supporting farmers to improve performance on their farms, Olusanya revealed that the State Government has, through LAISA, established eight farm service centres in different divisions of the state to give farmers easy access to quality Agricultural Inputs in a bid to ensure that the Agency remains a one-stop centre for agricultural supply for farmers in Lagos.
She outlined that the forum would be held quarterly in the five divisions of the state, stressing that it also serves as an avenue to enlighten the farmers about best practices on their farms.
In his view, the General Manager, LAISA, Mr. Bolaji Balogun appreciated the Ministry of Agriculture for being consistent in supporting the Agency to provide qualitative service to farmers in the State, as well as making LAISA a one-stop centre for agricultural products in the state.
Balogun said that the State Government’s support to farmers, through the agency over the years, has also contributed to aiding the rapid development of farming in rural areas in the state.
