Beacon Power Services (BPS), a Nigeria-based energy technology firm focused on improving electricity distribution across Africa, has raised an undisclosed amount in a Series A funding round to drive its expansion and strengthen its data-driven solutions for the continent’s power sector. With significant traction already in Nigeria and Ghana, the company plans to broaden its impact across Eastern and Southern Africa.
BPS has developed innovative platforms like CAIMS and ADORA, tailored to meet the unique challenges of Africa’s utility grid. CAIMS, an AI-powered Customer and Asset Information Management System, enables utilities to organize and analyze data more effectively with advanced GIS mapping technology. Meanwhile, ADORA provides real-time monitoring and control, allowing power providers to enhance operational efficiency and reduce outages—a crucial need in regions where power stability is often compromised.
This funding round was led by Partech, with key participation from Finnfund, Gaia Impact, Proparco Groupe AFD, and previous investors Kaleo Ventures and Seedstars Africa Ventures. New contributors, including Clermount, Global Brain with its CVC partner JGC MIRAI Innovation Fund, and On.Capital, also joined the round. With this financial backing, BPS aims to enhance its product offerings, support growth in existing markets, and extend its reach into additional African regions.
BPS founder and CEO, Bimbola Adisa, emphasized the company’s commitment to revolutionizing Africa’s energy landscape through its sophisticated software solutions. “We are driving a shift in energy infrastructure by equipping utilities with real-time insights and actionable data that improve electricity reliability, optimize grid operations, and decrease dependency on diesel generators. Effective power distribution in urban areas hinges on precise data, which underpins all of our solutions,” Adisa said.
Partech general partner Cyril Collon expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, underscoring BPS’s role as a leader in tackling Africa’s energy issues through data. “With a strong record in advancing grid management for utilities in Nigeria and Ghana, Beacon Power Services exemplifies the kind of transformative company that our Partech Africa Fund II seeks to support. We are excited to support their journey as they expand their operations and impact across Africa,” Collon stated.
Since securing seed funding in 2022, BPS has grown to employ over 200 people across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, and the United States, marking it as a significant player in the African energy technology landscape.
