Barely a day after the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu marked six months accident free on its waterways, an accident occurred at the Mile two area of the waterways on Monday, June 22nd, 2020.
Although no life was lost, two boats collided and tumbled thereby leaving its passengers floating with the aid of their life jackets.
One of the boats (white in colour) was sighted submerged, while the other had reportedly sunk.
Sanwo-Olu in a statement earlier noted that The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) comprising of Water-Guards, officers of the CTU of the Nigerian Police in collaboration with the Marine Police are always on standby, day and night monitoring all activities on the waterways ensuring the security of both lives and infrastructure.
