Operatives of the Lagos state police command has, Wednesday, arrested the police officer (yet-to-be disclosed) who allegedly shot at a moving car conveying a couple and their children at the Central Business District, Dr Nurudeen Olowopopo Way, Ikeja, Lagos state.
A Twitter user, @ewejeoyewole, shared the video of the Sunday incident online. It was said that the wife of the man, who was driving at the time of the gunshot, fainted.
The officer, dressed in a mobile police outfit and his AK 47 rifle, was said to have shattered the rear glass of the victim’s car.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bala Elkana, confirmed the arrest of the officer, assured residents that investigations have begun into the incident.
“The police are already in contact with the affected family and the destroyed vehicle has been repaired by the police,” Elkana noted.
Bala further noted, “The policeman is in custody. We have commenced an investigation into the circumstances that led to that incident. Nobody was injured, nobody was killed.”
