Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four teenage boys for allegedly gang-raping a teenage girl in Ejigbo.
The mother of the victim, Ms Tawa Abbey, who reported the incident to the police, said that her daughter (name withheld) went to buy food at Lafenwa Street, Ejigbo when a group of boys attacked and raped her in a room close to that vicinity.
The Ejigbo Divisional Police Officer identified the suspects as Jimoh Kamoru, Lukman Basit, Aleshinloye Sunday, and Ifeoluwa Alabi, all aged 16.
The DPO said that cutlasses and substances suspected to be Indian hemp were found on the suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered the Divisional Police Officer to go after other fleeing members of the group.
Odumosu reiterated the command’s zeal to work with other governmental agencies and interest groups in fighting against all sorts of social vices particularly rape, defilement and domestic violence.
The case has been transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba for discreet Investigation and prosecution, while he assured the general public of justice in the case.
