Oando Gas Tank Farm, which gutted fire in the early hours of Thursday afternoon in Marine Beach Apapa, has been quelled by about 20 fire responders of Lagos State, as no death was recorded.
The gas tank on fire is said to contain 6,000 metric tonne of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) trapped.
The Southwest Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye told newsmen that within same vicinity, there are five other tanks.
“One has aviation fuel and AGO while others are empty. All tankers have been shutdown to suffocate and facilitate prompt fire fighting,” he added.
Farinloye confirmed the presence of about 20 fire tenders at the scene of the fire outbreak.
They emergency responders include, Federal Fire Service, State Fire, NPA, NNPC, NIMASA, Nigeria Navy, Julius Berger, LASEMA, NIPCO, AIETO Petroleum.
While operations are still ongoing, the NEMA coordinator added that the situation is under control. “No threat to life.”
