Following the gruesome murder of 11-year-old Favour Okechukwu gang raped to death by four men in Ejigbo area of Lagos on Wednesday September 30, the State Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, has vowed to arrest occupants and landlords of buildings where crime is perpetrated starting with the building Favour was killed in.
The police boss made this pledge while addressing a group of child rights advocates and journalists in Ikeja, who called for immediate justice for Favour, who was supposed to turn age 12 on October 21 this year.
Odumosu warned, “Anywhere any dastardly act is carried out in Lagos henceforth, everyone will be arrested including the landlord of the building where the criminal activity took place.”
He sympathised, “I know what the parents must be going through because Favour was a promising child in the family.”
With my position as the Commissioner of Police, he declared, I want to assure you that everyone involved will be dealt with.
Following his new mandate to arrest occupants and landlords, Odumosu vowed to arrest the landlord of 4, Olanrewaju street, Ejigbo for silent conspiracy.
“This will never go unresolved. Assuming she is my daughter, how will I feel? Justice will be done and this will serve as a deterrent to others.”
