Latitude59, Estonia’s premier startup and tech event, is calling on early-stage African startups to join its upcoming pitch competition for a chance to win a share of its non-equity prize pool.
Next year’s event, set to take place in Tallinn, promises to build on the success of its 12th edition, which saw over 3,500 attendees, including more than 900 startup founders and nearly 600 investors. This time, African startups are especially encouraged to participate, with the selected finalists earning an opportunity to pitch at Latitude59 Kenya, a precursor event in Nairobi on November 28. The winner from this regional contest will secure a spot at the main competition in Estonia.
Latitude59 has been offering a prize pool of EUR 1 million (US$1.1 million) for two consecutive years. According to Liisi Org, CEO of Latitude59, the return to Kenya for the second year in a row underscores the high level of competition African startups have demonstrated, particularly in fields like greentech, fintech, and cleantech.
Applications are open until November 1.
