Lagos State Government has clarified that the Covid-19 palliatives discovered in a warehouse in the Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos were being kept for “distribution”.
Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos Governor, Gboyega Akosile, revealed via Twitter, that “The Government didn’t lock the food packs in. They’re in warehouse for distribution. GOVERNOR Babajide Sanwo-Olu used his personal and State resources to get food palliatives for vulnerable Lagosians even before Ca-COVID.”
Recall that TheLagosToday reported that residents in the Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos have, today, carted away several hundreds of foodstuffs, following an attack by hoodlums on the warehouse where COVID-19 palliatives were still being kept, seven months after the pandemic began.
The warehouse is located on Benster Crescent, popularly called Monkey Village.
It was also gathered that the looting started as early as 8am. After the hoodlums gained entrance into the warehouse, they looted some COVID-19 palliatives, another resident in the area said.
It was further gathered that the warehouse breakers also set a bonfire at a junction not far from the warehouse.
It was also learnt that the hoodlums later asked residents in the area to move into the warehouse and pick some palliatives.
