The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently interrogating the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, over allegations of gross financial misconduct.

The speaker and some top members and accounting officials in the state Assembly were said to have been invited by the EFCC for questioning at the Lagos zone office of the commission on Thursday October 8.

Obasa is being accused of looting public funds since he assumed the seat of the speaker of state house.

According to claims, he operates about 64 bank accounts with different names. He was also said to have altered his name and doctored his date of birth in some of the accounts.

Obasa was said to have awarded contracts to himself using different companies owned by him and how he got the Assembly to approve N258m for the printing of invitation cards for the inauguration of lawmakers two months after the event held.

While Obasa was said to have denied most of the allegations, he admitted that N80m as estacode was approved for the training of the wives of 20 lawmakers in Dubai.
