The Samuel Ilori Magistrate Court Ikeja has, Tuesday, remanded 80 years old landlord, Mr. Ebenezer Oyewole, who is HIV positive, for allegedly defiling his tenants’ four female minors among others.
Oyewole, who is the landlord of 29, Aranseolu Street Orile Agege, allegedly defiled survivors including: a nine-year-old, six-year-old, three-year-old and a year and the half years old at different occasions.
The Director, Stop the Abuse Against Women and Children Foundation, Toyin Taiwo-Ojo, said the mother of the six years old is not only careless but ignorance.
“It hurts. This woman is the mother of the six years old and the nine years old who were defiled by same landlord. When the nine years old told her mother some time ago about the abuse, she only warned her not to go near Baba again,” the director revealed.
Speaking further she noted that the alleged serial paedophile was using the name of Jesus to swear even when the little girls affirmed the claims in his presence.
“The children were taken to Mirabel for medical examination. Preliminary result at Mirabel Centre shows that the children are HIV negative. I guess a repeat test would be needed to confirm the status after three months,” she adds.
While the father of the two survivors (name withheld) thirst for justice, he is terrified the landlord, whom he described as very diabolic, could hurt them.
“He would prefer to move away from the compound to be able to protect his two children who would become the witnesses in this case, to which we agreed to assist in that area.”
She expressed worries, “The parents of the other kids have kept quiet for fear of stigmatisation and because they do not have money to move if they are told to quit the house.”
For Taiwo-Ojo, she has it on good authority that almost all the children in the compound have been sexually defiled by this landlord.
Oyewole was, however, remanded in prison custody pending trial.
The case has been adjourned until Thursday August 27 this year.
