The Lagos State Governor’s Cup interschool 7 A-Side Rugby Festival finals will be held today at the CMS Grammer School, Bariga, Lagos
The competition put together by the Lagos Rugby Association and the Ibudo Rugby Association is geared towards discovering more talents at the grassroots.
According to the organisers of the event, 15 secondary schools comprising of male and female teams are taking part in the Rugby Championship.
Teams will take part in the U-18 and U-15 category at the Rugby Festival.
The Lagos State Rugby Association has declared that the Association is ready to develop Rugby in Nigeria.
Chairman of the Ibudó Rugby Association, Michael Ogunbiyi, also said the Rugby Festival would give more children the opportunity to horn there skills in Rugby .
“I believe Rugby is one sport that prepares kids for battle in life if they take the Sport seriously. Rugby is a tactical game and is a major aspect for providing skills for life.
“Communication, teamwork, strategy, and defense is a responsibility of every player in Rugby .The Sport also gives opportunities for career grooming of children,” he said.
Over 500 hundred schools are taking part in the Governor’s Cup interschools Rugby Championship.
The championship started yesterday and will end today October 19th.
