Operatives attached to the State CID of the Lagos command have arrested two suspects Precious Chukwu, and Ujunwa Offiah, for conspiring with an Uber driver, Ifesinachi Blessed in staging a kidnapping case.
The duo – Precious, 22; and Ujunwa, 18; – are said to be girlfriends to the mastermind Ifesinachi, aged 26 who is currently at large.
As noted by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muyiwa Adejobi, the fleeing suspect, kept Ujunwa at a place and placed calls across to her family that she had been kidnapped.
Blessed was also said to have acted as a kidnapper and demanded ransom of N30m.
“They eventually negotiated with the help of his other girlfriend, Precious. They agreed to pay him N700,000 before he “released” Ujunwa,” the PRO said.
With this, he said the police swung into action and later discovered that it was a staged kidnapping, which led to the immediate arrest of the girls.
The State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the feeling suspect be arrested.
